Sustainability

BeGreen’s vision is to play a decisive and responsible role in the green transition.

Why

Renewable energy for Sweden

Climate change is one of the biggest societal challenges we face today. At BeGreen, we are driven by our mission to produce and supply priceworthy, sustainable power, thereby contributing positively to our customers’ everyday lives, society at large and the climate.

By producing green electricity, BeGreen’s solar PV parks save the environment annually for about 800 tonnes of CO2 per hectare, equivalent to the annual CO2 emissions of about 100 people.

An overall focus on sustainability

We work to integrate sustainability at all levels and in everything we do at BeGreen. We want the energy we produce to be sustainable in all respects – financially, environmentally and climate-wise, as well as landscape-wise.

BeGreen has a 360-degree sustainability concept that puts our work with sustainability into a system. Our cycle of sustainability efforts is based on an analysis of the company’s environmental and social impacts so we can prioritise our efforts.

We analyse the impact of our operations both on our stakeholders and on BeGreen as a business. On that basis, we identify and prioritise the areas that become focus areas and sustainability programmes.

We have set concrete sustainability targets and defined actions, focusing on environmental factors and human rights in our value chains, on being neighbour friendly, on biodiversity, recyclability of our materials and documentation of our climate impacts.

BeGreen and the Sustainable Development Goals

BeGreen’s sustainability strategy is based on our commitment to contribute positively to the UN’s 17 Sustainable Development Goals (SDGs).

Green energy reduces CO2

BeGreen produces green electricity from the sun. We contribute to SDG 7 by increasing the share of renewable energy in the global energy mix, and to SDG 13 by reducing CO2 emissions by selling green power.

Economic growth

BeGreen’s projects help to promote economic growth in society at large and in all the businesses in our supply chains, thus contributing positively to SDG 8. We also contribute to SDG 9 by helping to build energy infrastructure.

Resource efficiency

BeGreen contributes to SDG 12 by promoting resource efficiency and responsible production. Land used for solar PV parks are not sprayed with pesticides, protecting our groundwater reserves and managing the landscape of the park has a beneficial effect on the ‘life on land’ (SDG 15).
